This wiki is dedicated to the 2004 British mockumentary, The Last Dragon, also known as Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real in the United States, and Dragon's World in other countries. It was made by Animal Planet and is described as the story of "the natural history of the most extraordinary creature that never existed".

Premise

(Main article: The Last Dragon)

When a dragon corpse is discovered in a thawing glacial cave in modern-day Romania, a team of scientists, led by disgraced paleontologist and dragon enthusiast Jack Tanner, sets out to uncover the secrets of its evolution and how it could have lived.

The Last Dragon posits the theoretical evolution of dragons from the Cretaceous period up to the 15th century, and theories about what dragon life and behaviour might have been like if they had existed and evolved. It uses the premise that the ubiquity of dragons in world mythology suggests that dragons could have existed. They are a species that are scientifically feasible and could have evolved, although they did not.

Dragons

(Main article: Dragon)

Dragons are a diverse group of large-bodied reptiles capable of flight and fire-breathing (most of the time). Regarded as myths and legends, these majestic beasts have captivated the imaginations of many people for generations, but what if they weren't just myths but actual creatures that once walked the earth? How would they have lived, behave, or function, and why did they go extinct?

The Last Dragon features four species of dragons, all with unique traits and adaptations that aid in their survival. Click any of the links to learn more about each dragon.
